Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your focus on safety and attention to detail helps protect patients and empowers a team that’s committed to the care and improvement of human life – one surgery at a time.
Your responsibilities will include:
+ Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
+ Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care
+ Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs
+ Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
+ Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries
What qualifications you will need:
+ Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course
+ 1+ years of experience in a hospital setting preferred
+ Trauma experience preferred
+ National certification required within 12 months of being hired.
+ Required certifications include Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CBSPD) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Program Requirements:
+ All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period
+ Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need
+ Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period
+ During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)
+ Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital
+ Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy
+ Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)
+ Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation
+ Current FT/PT and PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2025--26 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year
+ Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program
+ Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department
Medical City Heart & Spine Hospitals are hospitals for specialized advanced cardiovascular and spine care. The facilities are located near Medical City Dallas. They are designed to be efficient and result in faster recoveries. We offer an enhanced patient experience. Patients will benefit from leading edge treatments and technology. The facility provides a wide array of cardiac services. Services include complex vascular and heart surgery and advanced heart failure treatment. We offer minimally invasive vascular surgery and other specialized heart care. The facility has a dedicated cardiac emergency room. Medical City Spine Hospital has 25+ beds. It provides spine care for common spine disorders. Spine care is also provided for rare, hard-to-treat spinal deformities. Those include adult and pediatric scoliosis and spondylolistheses. We offer complex spine surgery and minimally invasive surgical options.
