Job Description

The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation of various machines and equipment at the University of Hartford. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

+ Performs preventative maintenance repairs and major overhausl on both Aramark and University equiptment and vehicles

+ Diagnose problems annd makes repairs as necessary and appropriate

+ Services batteries, relaigns brakes, adjust vehicle components and systems, vehicle body repair, replace worn or broken parts

+ Properly inspects, maintains, and changes cylinders on various gases located in cylinder room

+ Adheres to all Aramark appearance standards and maintains a professional dress at all times while working

+ Maintains critical inventory needed to keep operations running; maintains and accounts for tools used

+ Completes preventative maintenance as scheduled and records the same

+ Provides emergency road service to disabled Aramark and University equiptment and vehicles

+ Ensures all behicles are in safe operating condistion and all legal and unsurance requirements are met in alignment with the state of Connecticut emissions program

+ Responds to calls for duty at irregular hours for snow and ice removal, workload requirements, and other emergencies. Considered essential staff in times of emergency

+ Maintains knowledge of all equipment and related skills

+ Maintains safe work enviroment, friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor toward customers, clients and co-workers. Is anticipative of/responsive to customer needs

+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Previous experience in Mechanic/Vehicle Maintenance or in a related role required

Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

Demonstrates organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
