POSITION DETAILS
CUNY Citizenship Now! at The City University of New York provides free, high-quality, and confidential immigration law services to help individuals and families on their path to U.S. citizenship. Our attorneys and paralegals offer one-on-one consultations to assess participants' eligibility for immigration benefits and assist them in applying when qualified.
Reporting to the Executive Director, CUNY Citizenship Now! seeks a Director who will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the Campus and Community Engagement ensuring the program is easily accessible to eligible students, faculty, staff as well as the immigrant community in NY state. This is a managerial position that provides leadership and empowerment, leading a team of nine full-time employees.
Key duties include but are not limited to the following:
+ Partner with the Executive Director, CUNY Citizenship Now! in planning and delivering high priority and impactful projects geared towards deliverables of contracts and grants awarded.
+ Orchestrate and execute event management for more than 10 weekend events with elected officials, city agencies, immigration legal service providers and nonprofit organizations throughout the 5-NYC Boroughs.
+ Develop and implement timelines and work plans for all CN! events; manage all logistical aspects of event production, including pre-planning, venue selection, and post event management.
+ Manage the performance evaluation process for staff to ensure evaluations are submitted and compliant with CUNY rules/regulations.
+ May represent the Executive Director as a representative for CUNY Citizenship Now!; liaise with departments (e.g., CUNY Operations, CUNY CIS, CUNY Marketing, and Student Affairs departments, etc.) to facilitate the execution of special projects.
+ Provide tactical guidance on workflows, policies and procedures pertaining to CUNY Citizenship Now! and revises/streamlines as needed to yield greater efficiencies and quality outputs; train personnel on operational and service processes and protocols; maintain relevant documentation.
+ Build collaborative relationships with partner offices throughout CUNY to facilitate student, faculty, and staff engagement in CN! services.
+ Lead departments and vendors (e.g., IT, facilities, HR, contractors, architects) to ensure all aspects of the office setup are addressed enabling office operations to begin on schedule.
+ Direct CN! special projects operations to ensure strategic planning to meet organizational goals; create project timelines, track progress, mitigate risks, and resolve issues to meet strict deadlines.
+ Negotiate with vendors to secure the best rates for products and services to deliver projects on time, and within budget by respecting CN! quality standard requirements.
NOTES:
1. Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office.
2. Ability to work on weekends and evenings is required for this position.
3. Ability to travel as needed for campus and community outreach activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
Preferred:
+ Ten or more years of experience in project management or related marketing campaigns including event management
+ Excellent communication and facilitation skills are essential in navigating relationships with elected officials, internal and external stakeholders and their staff
+ Proven track record for managing multiple large-scale projects and leading teams
+ Project Management Certification, or proven experience in project management software and programs
+ Ability to:
+ lead cross-functional teams with varying needs within a large complex organization
+ analyze processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement solutions
+ prepare written reports and make presentations clearly and concisely
+ Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
+ Experience in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships by maintaining high ethical standards
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
As a senior staff member in a large academic or administrative department, division, or school, manages operations and administration, participates in planning and setting priorities, and oversees related projects to ensure their success.
- Works with management to create short- and long-term business plans, including operational, organization, and financial aspects.
- Works with management and others to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.
- Manages the ongoing financial, operational, and staffing activities of the department.
- Manages operating budget and performs analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
- Oversees legal, safety, fiscal, and other compliance requirements.
- Oversees facilities, technology, and materials utilized in the department, coordinating with appropriate Campus services.
- Works with other Campus or University units to coordinate and plan fund-raising, grants, marketing, communications, and outreach activities.
- Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the department's purview, such as managing committees, securing approvals, and providing communications.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range is **$122,201 to $126,333.** commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
