Position Details
The Department of Economics and Business at the Colin Powell School of The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Finance/Data Science, beginning in the Fall of 2026. We welcome applicants from all subfields of Finance, Financial Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
The successful candidate will be expected to be an active scholar with strong research agenda and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include teaching courses in finance, data science, quantitative methods, financial analytics, and related areas. This includes introductory and/or core courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as supervising MA students. The candidate is expected to contribute to the overall academic environment of the economics and business department and the college.
About the Colin Powell School
The Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership is the division of social sciences at CCNY and is comprised of five academic departments: Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Studies; Economics and Business; Political Science; Psychology; and Sociology. It is also home to all of the College’s leadership development and public service programs, alongside a range of dynamic interdisciplinary programs including International Relations, Mental Health Counseling, Public Service Management, Women’s Studies, and the Honors Program for Legal Studies.
With nearly 4,000 students, it is the College's largest student division, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees. The internationally recognized scholarship of the Colin Powell School’s diverse faculty addresses critical topics of societal concern from multiple intellectual perspectives. Our students constitute one of the most unique academic communities in the country. Candidates must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in Finance, Financial Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a closely related discipline is required. All degree requirements must be fulfilled by the start of appointment (Fall 2026).
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate a record for high-quality research and teaching.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $98,995 - $109,025
