    Description

    The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (VLCS), College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS), Texas A&M University (TAMU) invites applications for a full-time, 11-month/year, non-tenure track faculty position in Radiology at the rank of clinical assistant professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualification and experience. The anticipated started date for this position is Fall 2025.

     

    The successful candidate will spend 60-70% of their effort on clinics, engaging in clinical teaching and patient care. Although the academic home of radiology faculty members is the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, the radiologists provide diagnostic imaging services for all types of patients of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), including small and large animals. These services encompass radiology, ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and nuclear medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent diagnostic image interpretation, communication, and service in the VMTH and participate with other faculty members in rotating emergency imaging support. Other effort assignments are expected to be 10-15% didactic teaching, 10-15% scholarship, and 10% academic service. The faculty member is expected to develop and deliver well-organized, creative lectures and laboratory materials in the professional curriculum, be effective and innovative in his/her approach to teaching, and to teach, supervise, and mentor fourth year students, interns, and residents in the VMTH. Faculty members are expected to commit to holding themselves and colleagues accountable to the VMBS code of professional conduct.     The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of six faculty radiologists and seven radiology residents. Five of these radiologists also hold ACVR board certification in Equine Diagnostic Imaging (EDI), making this the largest group of ACVR-EDI diplomates in the world. The Radiology Service is supported by a well-trained staff of dedicated technicians in all service areas. Our imaging equipment includes 3-tesla MRI (Siemens MAGNETOM Verio), 40-slice CT (Siemens SOMATOM Definition AS), ultrasound (Samsung RS85, Samsung RS80A), fluoroscopy, scintigraphy, and digital radiography. TAMU is currently constructing a new Small Animal Teaching & Research Hospital (https://nextgenvethospital.tamu.edu/) (SATRH) with an expected occupancy in 2027. The SATRH will leverage state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging to provide leading-edge, research-driven patient care that is not available regionally.

     

    The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences includes 50 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and scholarly interests.     Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or an equivalent degree.

    + Must be able to hold a Texas state veterinary license.

    + Must be board certified or must be working toward board certification by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. Board certification is required within 3 years of hire for non-certified applicants.

    + Must be committed to a team-centered atmosphere and possess exccelent communication skills with faculty calleagues, veterinary students, house officers, technicians, staff.
