General Summary:
The Business Intelligence Analyst II supports data-driven decision-making across Colonial Life by managing a continuous flow of data and analysis requests, triaging priorities, and delivering actionable insights. This position combines data analysis and visualization with project management and stakeholder coordination, ensuring that incoming requests are understood, prioritized, and completed efficiently.
The BIA II will leverage tools such as QlikView, SQL, Power BI, and Tableau to gather, analyze, and translate data into clear visual insights for stakeholders. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, organized, and confident engaging with stakeholders across Colonial Life, to manage competing priorities and expectations. This opportunity requires a strong foundation in SQL, data analysis, and business acumen, with opportunities to grow into deeper analytical work over time.
This is a hybrid role blending business intelligence, data visualization, and project management. The BIA II plays a key role in ensuring data requests are efficiently managed, insights are actionable, and stakeholders are aligned on timelines and priorities. Job Specifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
+ Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data analytics or BI, with demonstrated success as a BI Analyst I or equivalent
+ Proficiency in SQL
+ Experience with QlikView, Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI visualization tools
+ Familiarity with Smartsheet or project tracking tools
+ Understanding of data profiling, modeling, and validation concepts
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and project management abilities
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including executives
+ Ability to influence through data, logic, and sound reasoning
+ Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
+ Demonstrated ability to mentor others and contribute to team development
+ Aptitude for learning new technologies and adapting to change
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Data & Analysis:
+ Acquire, transform, and visualize data using tools such as QlikView, Power BI, SQL, and Tableau to support business reporting and decision-making
+ Conduct moderately complex data profiling and analysis to determine the best sources and structures for business information
+ Develop actionable dashboards, reports, and datasets to guide leadership decisions and measure success
+ Perform statistical and trend analysis to identify insights and opportunities across business functions
+ Partner with Data Engineers to perform validation, testing, and data quality reviews
Project Management:
+ Manage intake and triage of all data and analysis requests from across the organization, including requests from senior leaders and VPs
+ Oversee project timelines and deliverables using Smartsheet or similar tools, ensuring visibility into task progress and dependencies
+ Facilitate intake meetings with stakeholders to clarify needs, gather requirements, and ensure alignment on scope and deadlines
+ Serve as a liaison between the BI team and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, prioritization, and follow-up
+ Track team progress and report weekly on training, deliverables, and implementation activities
+ Support planning and execution of the BIA reporting strategy rollout, ensuring milestones are met and stakeholders remain informed
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
+ Collaborate with internal partners, including Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and operational teams, to refine requirements and validate outputs
+ Participate in regular team meetings with Jason and senior team members to review incoming requests, assign ownership, and identify overlap or shared priorities
+ Communicate status updates and outcomes to business partners in clear, actionable language
+ Confidently manage expectations, including saying “no” when priorities or timelines require adjustment
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Building:
+ Build deep understanding of the business and its data landscape, developing strong familiarity with company databases and reporting systems
+ Stay current on emerging trends in business intelligence tools and methodologies
+ Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical support to lower-level BI Analysts

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$73,300.00-$150,500.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
