    The Burlington Council on Aging provides enrichment and support for Burlington’s senior population. The COA is committed to helping older adults of all ages & stages to remain active, independent, and engaged members of the community. We are currently looking for a Substitute Van Driver to provide transportation services to our seniors in order to promote their independence and well-being. This position will be called in as needed, to cover the absence of the regular Van Drivers.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Drive a 10-passenger van to transport seniors to the lunch program, medical appointments, grocery shopping and recreational programs at the Senior Center

    + Respond to urgent transportation issues

    + Perform pick-up and delivery service as needed, which may weigh up to 30lbs

    Minimum qualifications include

    + High School Diploma or equivalent

    + Experience working with elders is preferred

    + Patience and ability to adapt communication style to a diverse population

    + Sensitivity, compassion and tact, and ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

    + Experience in light truck delivery service is desirable

    + General knowledge of the Town street system

    + Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

     

    This is a non-union position. Starting rate is $24.23/hour.

     

    Hours will vary based on the need of the department. Must be available on an as-needed basis during the following hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am – 3:00pm, Wednesday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Friday 9:00am – 1:00pm.

     

    Position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

     

    Please note: MA General Laws mandate that any individual having direct contact at any time with either children or senior citizens be subject to CORI screening by the Criminal History Systems Board. Any conditional offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory CORI results.
