The role will provide coaching, guidance, evaluation, and professional support to strengthen leadership capacity and operational excellence. This individual will ensure that the district’s administrative services effectively support the educational environment across grades PK–12. Essential Responsibilities + Provide direct supervision, evaluation, and leadership coaching to the Director of Technology, Director of Transportation, Director of Nutrition, Human Resource Generalist, and Custodian Coordinator. + Develop clear systems and processes to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and accountability across all supervised departments. + Partner with principals and district leaders to align administrative operations with the needs of students, staff, and schools. + Facilitate collaboration between operational departments to promote integrated planning, learning, and problem-solving. + Investigate and resolve employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters in accordance with district policies and applicable laws. + Oversee the creation, implementation, and monitoring of departmental goals, ensuring alignment with the district’s mission and strategic plan. Establish benchmarks, metrics, and reporting systems to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate successes within departments. + Lead strategic planning for staffing, facility maintenance, transportation routing, nutrition, operations, technology infrastructure, and custodial services. + Provide oversight of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in all assigned operational areas. + Manage and monitor departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient use of district resources. + Oversee human resources by supporting recruitment, retention, and development of high-quality staff via compliant and up to date personnel records, HR data systems, and staff trainings.in coordination with Human Resources. Advise superintendent and school board on HR related policy development and legal compliance. + Promote and model equity, inclusivity, and a student-centered approach to decision-making in all administrative functions. + Serve as a liaison between the Superintendent’s Office and operational leaders, communicating effectively with staff, families, and community partners. + Lead crisis response and emergency management planning related to operations (transportation, facilities, safety, technology). + Ensure the effective integration of technology into both instructional and operational systems. + Serve as a mentor and coach to operational leaders, supporting their professional growth and capacity as district leaders. + Participate actively in Superintendent’s Cabinet meetings and other leadership forums, contributing to district-wide policy development and decision-making. Qualifications + Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field (preferred). + Demonstrated leadership experience in PK–12 education or school district operations. + American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) or Society for Human Resources Management certification (preferred or willingness to obtain). + Proven ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate staff. + Strong organizational and systems-thinking skills. + Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team success. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Knowledge of Iowa school finance, HR regulations, and compliance requirements (preferred).
