As an **Electrical Engineer** at Frontier-Kemper, you will play a key role in the design, fabrication, and installation of power distribution and control systems supporting our heavy civil construction and mining divisions.
This position is responsible for the **analysis, engineering, design, and procurement** of electrical equipment used on our temporary mining sites and tunnel boring machine (TBM) projects. You will work closely with engineers, vendors, and field teams to ensure all systems meet performance requirements and engineering best practices. This is a **dynamic, hands-on position** requiring adaptability to the day-to-day operations of active construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
+ Apply creativity and strategic thinking to anticipate and resolve engineering challenges during construction while maintaining project objectives and requirements
+ Design and specify **medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems** for mining and heavy civil construction projects
+ Perform **fault current calculations, arc flash analyses,** and **coordination studies** for power distribution systems
+ Manage multiple projects simultaneously, directing the efforts of engineers and designers
+ Prepare and present project documentation including **calculations, drawings, and technical reports**
+ Perform **equipment take-offs** from design drawings and coordinate procurement
+ Collaborate with vendors to acquire and specify **off-the-shelf components**
+ Review designs for **fit, function, and accuracy** to ensure compliance with standards
+ Ensure final deliverables meet **customer requirements and internal design standards**
+ Travel intermittently to project and customer sites to support field teams and contractors
Requirements
+ Minimum **5 years of experience** in electrical engineering
+ **Bachelor’s degree** (or higher) in Electrical Engineering from an **ABET-accredited** institution
+ Strong **project management** and organizational skills
+ Excellent **communication and interpersonal** abilities
+ **Professional Engineer (P.E.) license** or the ability to obtain licensure within 2 years (preferred)
+ Experience with **EasyPower** or similar power system software (training available for the right candidate)
+ Additional Beneficial Skills: **Autodesk Electrical or LT, Revit, Document Control, Hydraulic System Proficiency, Microsoft Office**
