Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team. The Mechanical Designer will work under the guidance of a Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager to apply mechanical theory in designing and specifying mechanical systems. The role involves performing load estimates, energy usage calculations, and completing energy code compliance documentation. Additionally, the Mechanical Designer will participate in coordination meetings with design team members and clients, correspond with vendors and contractors, perform site surveys, observe construction projects, and review submittals.

Responsibilities

+ Acquire knowledge or actively learn various HVAC systems and firm-specific standards.

+ Coordinate clearances and fit for all MEPT systems.

+ Calculate HVAC load estimates for various spaces, buildings, and processes.

+ Conduct site surveys.

+ Design air distribution and hydronic systems under the supervision of a Mechanical Engineer.

+ Perform ductwork design, layout, and sizing.

+ Select grilles, registers, and diffusers.

+ Choose central air handling units and terminal units.

+ Perform piping design, layout, and sizing.

+ Select central plant and equipment.

+ Design automation control systems.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Revit.

+ Four-year degree in engineering or technology related to the subject area or a two-year degree with relevant experience.

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC design, open to any building type except for multi-family.

+ Ability to perform duct sizing and layouts.

+ Ability to perform load calculation fundamentals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ EIT license is a nice-to-have qualification.

Work Environment

The office is located in downtown Indianapolis, housed in a standalone building with its own parking. This is an in-person position, although there is some flexibility for remote work when necessary. The company operates in a variety of sectors, including K-12 and higher education, industrial, municipal, corporate, hospitality, and limited healthcare and historical preservation projects. The office has a family-oriented atmosphere.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
