Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician for a contract-to-hire position working from Tuesday to Saturday, midnight to 8 am. This role involves performing various testing procedures on raw milk tanker samples in the Main Lab using our specific lab equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct Animal Drug Residue testing with Appendix N certification provided by the State.

+ Perform Added water/Cryo testing to obtain the freezing point.

+ Execute DMC testing by obtaining samples, staining slides, and reading results under a microscope.

+ Measure the percentage of titratable acidity in milk using sodium hydroxide.

+ Assess flavor and odor by heating samples, cooling them, and conducting a taste and smell test.

+ Analyze butterfat and total solids using FOSS 120 equipment.

+ Perform additional testing including pH/acidity, spin testing (centrifuge), autoclaving, and homogenization testing.

+ Monitor silo/cooler temperatures and perform titrations on chemicals used in plant equipment.

+ Verify paperwork and scale calibrations daily.

+ Conduct equipment start-up testing and plating samples.

+ Read plates and enter data into QA Studio.

+ Carry out other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Knowledge in microbiology and laboratory practices.

+ Proficiency in pipetting and staining/creating sample slides.

+ Familiarity with GMPs, SOPs, and food manufacturing processes.

+ Experience with laboratory equipment such as Charm unit/incubator, Cryoscope, Microscope, and FOSS 120.

+ Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Biology or related science preferred but not required.

+ Experience in dairy or other food manufacturing is a plus.

+ Open to candidates from pharmaceutical backgrounds.

Work Environment

The position is based in a beverage manufacturing facility. The role involves working in a lab environment where adherence to safety and quality assurance protocols is critical. The work schedule is from midnight to 8 am, Tuesday through Saturday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frederick, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
