Job Title: Civil/Structural Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team, supporting ongoing operations at a nuclear facility in Texas. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to develop and oversee structural engineering deliverables related to facility upgrades and modifications. The selected candidate will take a leadership role in preparing technical documentation, performing structural analyses, and contributing to engineering studies aimed at enhancing plant infrastructure.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as the primary structural engineering lead, overseeing the development of design documentation and coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
+ Perform detailed structural analyses and technical assessments to support design efforts, including support systems for piping, cabling, and equipment; instrument rack configurations; load impact evaluations on concrete structures; anchorage assessments; and seismic performance reviews.
+ Collaborate with site personnel to define project parameters and provide engineering support throughout construction, implementation, and commissioning phases.
+ Apply sound engineering judgment to resolve complex challenges, review peer work for accuracy and compliance, and align structural efforts with other technical disciplines.
+ Contribute to project planning by generating estimates for materials, labor hours, and engineering/design timelines.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
+ Professional Engineering (PE) license is required, with the ability to obtain a PE in Texas.
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with industrial steel and concrete design serving heavy industrial facilities.
+ Ability to obtain unescorted access within a nuclear power plant.
+ Engineering and design experience, including developing structural modification packages.
+ Good written and oral communication skills.
+ 5 years of experience relating to structural modifications and evaluations of commercial nuclear power plants.
+ Existing Design Engineer qualifications at a commercial nuclear power plant.
+ Familiarity with nuclear standards and guidelines.
+ Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
+ Field experience at an operating Nuclear Plant.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience designing and implementing support systems, including piping, cable trays, and equipment anchoring for brownfield nuclear power plant projects.
+ Design Engineer Qualification at a commercial nuclear power plant.
+ Seismic and load impact evaluations.
Work Environment
This is a remote position with a requirement of 5% travel, visiting the site at least once a month for no more than a week (3-5 days). Ideally, candidates would reside close to Texas, but this is not mandatory. Initially, travel may be heavier to understand the project and team, but it will reduce to a minimum of 5% based on the project's needs. The schedule offers flexibility based on performance and project requirements, with a 4/10's schedule allowing every other Friday off.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $67.00 - $76.00/hr.
