Job Title: DrafterJob Description

Plan and create mechanical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents in collaboration with engineers and product designers. Prepare mechanical sketches and detailed drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) techniques, including two- and three-dimensional orthographic projections and 3-D models. Develop applications and calculations for various mechanical components such as castings, forgings, and machined parts. Prepare supporting information by developing bills of materials and standard parts.

Responsibilities

+ Review sketches, descriptions, and specifications in collaboration with engineers and product designers to plan mechanical drawings.

+ Render sectional, auxiliary, and multi-view sketches and drawings, and produce 2-D and 3-D orthographic projections using CAD.

+ Develop mechanical detail drawings for components such as gears, cams, bearings, and hydraulic systems.

+ Analyze force systems in equilibrium and resolve conflicts between options.

+ Develop bills of materials and standard parts.

+ Modify drawings by analyzing, resolving, and incorporating changes.

+ Document work by recording data and updating databases.

+ Ensure compliance with legal requirements by adhering to codes and regulations.

+ Keep equipment operational by adjusting hardware configuration and calling for repairs.

+ Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

+ Contribute to organizational goals by accepting new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with AutoCAD

+ 0-2 years of drafting experience

+ Knowledge of sheet metal design

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate's Degree is preferred but not required

Work Environment

Work in a fabrication shop that builds trailers, within a team of 3-4 drafters located on the manufacturing floor. The dress code is casual, including jeans. This small company offers growth opportunities, potentially leading to a lead role.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Clair, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
