    Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

     

    The Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in supporting engineering projects by adapting and applying engineering techniques, conducting tests and inspections, and preparing reports and calculations. The technician will complete test requests according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), design test methods, and build custom test equipment when SOPs do not exist. They will be responsible for recording accurate test data, interpreting this data, and writing reports and conclusions based on it. Additionally, the role involves hands-on building of test carts requiring mechanical, plumbing, wiring, and programming skills.

    Responsibilities

    + Determine engineering requirements by conducting inspections and analytical tests, analyzing and synthesizing data, maintaining control charts, determining root causes, and preparing bid specifications.

    + Resolve engineering problems by collecting and analyzing information, researching, adapting, and modifying engineering techniques.

    + Recommend solutions and prepare drawings, schematics, and diagrams.

    + Meet cost standards by preparing cost-benefit analyses, and tracking and reporting expenses.

    + Maintain and improve quality results by completing quality assurance tests, following standards, studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes, and implementing changes.

    + Collect and enter data, generate reports and presentations, and summarize data and trends.

    Essential Skills

    + Mechanical testing

    + Data analysis

    + Mechanical aptitude

    + Degree in engineering technology - associates or bachelor's

    + Data/statistical analysis (Excel, Minitab, etc.)

    + Hands-on plumbing, wiring, and mechanical skills

    + Experience with test equipment and electromechanical systems

    + Mechanical engineering

    + Mechanical engineering technology

    + Proficiency in LabVIEW and Python

    + Troubleshooting

    + Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW

    + Mechanical and hose assembly

    + Automated testing

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

    + Will consider an Associate's degree in engineering technology or a related field

    + 0-2 years of experience required

    + Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability

    + Team player and detail-oriented

    + Basic ability to make sketches, engineering drawings, and common computations

    + Basic ability to perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications

    + Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology

    + Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to the engineering field

    + Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automation, Electrical, or other Engineering disciplines, or coursework in a related field

    Work Environment

    The position offers a flexible 8-5 schedule with no overtime permitted. The role requires interaction with management and team members, involving some collaborations but mostly independent work. Work is predominantly mechanical with some electrical/electronic components and integration since the testing systems involve custom equipment testing such as sensors, measurement analysis, low voltage, pumps/plumbing, dispensers, and material compatibility chambers. Assignments can range from simple pneumatic pieces for hand sanitizer pumps to complex electromechanical equipment for large industrial applications. Training occurs during regular hours. The dress code is 'dress for your day' with closed-toe shoes, no dresses, no hoodies/novelty tees, and business casual attire (jeans are acceptable). Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.

    This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
