    Job Title: Cost Estimator

    About the Role

    We are seeking a Cost Estimator to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring accurate project budgeting and cost control. This position involves detailed job costing, scope development, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to keep projects on track financially. You’ll work closely with the accounting team, project managers, and principals to identify budget variances, provide actionable insights, and support decision-making.

     

    In addition to estimating across all trades—architectural, structural, and mechanical—you may also act as a construction manager during early project phases, contributing to concept budgeting, subcontractor qualification, and value engineering efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Maintain and monitor detailed job costing against original budgets.

    + Develop and confirm scopes of work for contracts.

    + Collaborate with accounting for monthly billing processes.

    + Identify and communicate budget issues to project management and leadership.

    + Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for all trades (architectural, structural, mechanical).

    + Support concept/schematic phases as a construction manager, including:

    + Concept budgeting

    + Solicitation and qualification of subcontractors

    + Coordination with design teams for value engineering alternatives

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

    + 0–3 years of experience in cost estimation or construction cost control.

    + Strong understanding of construction and bidding processes.

    + Proficiency in Procore and Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Ability to read blueprints and perform takeoffs for multiple trades.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with project budgeting and general contracting (GC).

    + Exposure to high-end retail, commercial, or residential projects.

    Work Environment

    This is an on-site role (5 days/week) based in Greenvale, NY. You will work on diverse projects, including:

     

    + Rental and condominium developments

    + New commercial buildings (primarily high-end retail)

    + Renovation and conversion of commercial spaces

    + Tenant improvements for office and retail environments

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $44.00/hr.
