Payroll Manager

_The Payroll will lead a team of payroll professionals responsible for all facets of Payroll, including partnering with external payroll partners for the timely and accurate administration of payroll. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong problem-solving abilities and a can-do approach. This role is fully on-site in our Walnut Creek office._
_RESPONSIBILITIES_
+ _Establishes standard operating procedures for payroll processing, reporting, and compliance._
+ _Ability to train, mentor, and evaluate payroll staff._
+ _Delegates tasks effectively while ensuring accuracy and timeliness._
+ _Leads initiatives like system migrations, new union agreements, or process revisions._
+ _Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws_
+ _Handles escalated payroll issues (union disputes, garnishments, tax questions)._
+ _Conducts internal audits and reconciliations._
+ _Provides and analyzes regular and ad-hoc reports._
+ _Maintains payroll operations according to company policies and procedures; improves processes, where necessary, to build stronger efficiencies._
+ _Collaborates with external payroll partner(s)._
+ _Performs other related duties as assigned._
_REQUIREMENTS_
+ _Seven (7) plus years of payroll experience, with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience supervising payroll_
+ _Familiarity with multi-state payroll reporting for multiple entities_
+ _Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage and union payroll compliance_
+ _Strong working knowledge of external payroll platforms such as ADP._
+ _Outstanding organization, eye for detail, and follow-through._
+ _Optimistic, with an eagerness to help others._
+ _Keen emotional intelligence and steadfast composure._
+ _Strong ability to coach and lead others._
+ _Technology know-how with the ability to pick up quickly on new/unfamiliar systems._
+ _Solid communication._
**Pay Details:** $100,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
