Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting, developing, and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes. This position is responsible for driving EHS performance improvements within the organization, influencing leadership, and integrating EHS into daily operations.

Responsibilities

+ Support the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards.

+ Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational diseases and health hazards.

+ Promote EHS awareness through effective employee communication and participation.

+ Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.

+ Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.

+ Conduct compliance tasks such as stormwater sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.

+ Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.

+ Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures.

+ Perform risk assessments related to jobs and new processes and equipment.

+ Maintain accurate metrics for reporting to onsite management and corporate systems.

+ Support management efforts to ensure compliance with corporate programs and applicable federal and state laws.

+ Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomics.

+ Establish and manage the safety committee.

+ Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risks.

+ Participate in site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.

Essential Skills

+ EHS, Health & Safety, Environmental Health

+ Manufacturing plant experience

+ Knowledge of EHS regulations

+ Risk assessment

+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field or relevant experience

+ 1+ years’ experience in EHS support, especially in warehousing

+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910

+ Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

+ Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in conducting investigations and promoting EHS awareness

+ Experience in supporting regulated waste management and conducting compliance tasks

Work Environment

The role requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stand or walk for up to 10 hours. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 3 pm to 11 pm. Candidates must be willing to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and/or weekends. Travel to South America for two weeks at a time is required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Merritt Island, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
