    CORE JOB SUMMARYThe Staff Physician Fellow participates in an organized post-residency medical training program in which they have daily contact with patients and assume responsibility for their care, under the supervision of an accountable physician faculty member. All work performed by the Staff Physician Fellow must be relevant to their applicable academic field of study, and their term of employment shall not exceed the length of time necessary to complete the goals and objective of the training program, which shall not exceed three years of service.CORE JOB FUNCTIONS1. Thoroughly participates and engages in educational and scholarly activities associated with the training program, including passing of examinations, actively participating in seminars and other scholarly activities, attending required meetings, etc.2. Performs consultation, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.3. Provides safe, effective, and compassionate patient care under supervision.4. Demonstrates own knowledge base and uses resources for clinical problem-solving, but also knows when to make proper use of the available supervisory and support systems.5. Analyzes own practice for needed improvement and seeks advice and input when necessary.6. Finds and uses evidence from scientific studies and clinical guidelines.7. Uses systematic approaches to improve patient care and reduce errors.8. Provides the highest standard of patient care and completes the associated medical record documentation in a timely fashion.9. Contributes to the working environment of the department by maintaining a professional atmosphere.10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.11.     Dept specific duties:

    The SCCC Myeloma Institute has an opening for an NST Myeloma Fellowship starting 6/1/2026-5/31/2027. The 1-year Fellowshi p is open to international candidates, inclusive of J1 Visa holders. The Myeloma Fellow will focus in advanced clinical, research, and academic activities related to the treatment of high-risk and relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. Department-specific responsibilities include:

     

    + Clinical Care : Provide comprehensive care to patients with advanced multiple myeloma, including those undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy, and other novel immunotherapies. Participate in both inpatient and outpatient services under the supervision of faculty experts.

    + Multidisciplinary Collaboration : Actively participate in myeloma-specific tumor boards, transplant selection conferences, and cross-disciplinary care planning with teams including pharmacy, pathology, radiology, and supportive care services.

    + Research : Contribute to departmental clinical and translational research initiatives, including trial design, patient enrollment, data analysis, and presentation of findings at national meetings. The fellow will also pursue an independent scholarly project with mentorship from faculty.

    + Education and Teaching : Teach and mentor trainees at the resident and fellow levels through case discussions, presentations, and bedside teaching. Present regularly at journal clubs, research meetings, and departmental conferences.

    + Quality and Innovation : Participate in departmental quality improvement projects and help advance institutional protocols related to myeloma treatment, cellular therapy, and supportive care.
