    Accounting Manager – Commodities Industry

     

    Our client, a company in the commodities sector, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting activities and ensure accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced environment. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on work, team leadership, and exposure to a complex, global business.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

    + Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

    + Partner with operations and trading teams to understand transaction flow and ensure proper accounting treatment for commodity purchases, sales, and inventory.

    + Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights to management to support strategic decision-making.

    + Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.

    + Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.

    + Support system improvements and process automation to streamline accounting operations.

    Requirements

    + 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory responsibilities.

    + Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with complex inventory or commodity accounting a plus.

    + Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics).
