    Primary purpose:

    + This position will be responsible for all aspects of a natural gas pipeline accountant for the West Region. This position requires proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases and work processing software, along with the ability to learn new programs. Candidate must be a self-motivated, flexible individual with a strong willingness to learn, accept responsibilities, tackle challenges and function in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Overtime may be required during critical times including holidays.

    Essential duties and responsibilities:

    + Monthly journal entry preparation and review

    + Balance Sheet reconciliations

    + Variance analysis

    + Financial analysis

    + Regulatory Reporting (FERC Form 2/3Q’s, EIA)

    + Regulatory fuel filing reconciliation

    + Government, GAAP and SOX compliance

    + Participate in timely monthly close

    + Ability to analyze complex accounting issues

    + Work directly with the Planning Group on a monthly basis

    + Preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for management review

    + Special projects and other duties within Pipeline Accounting as assigned

    + Participate in audits and provide necessary support to comply with requests for information or response to audit exceptions

    + Timely respond to all data requests

    + Write effectively and understand written communications, including but not limited to email

    + Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers, and departments supported

    + Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism

    + Speak clearly, both in person and through Teams, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully

    + Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance

    + Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public

    + May be required to work non-traditional hours

    Position Requirements

    Minimum requirements:

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred or equivalent interstate natural gas pipeline accounting experience

    Competencies, skills, and abilities:

    + Must have a complete understanding of Accounting Concepts

    + Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Windows and Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access and Word

    + Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues

    + Must be self-motivated and detail oriented

    + Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with various deadlines simultaneously

    + Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others, and maintain confidentiality

    + Ability to complete work in a prioritized and organized fashion

    + Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks, often with strict or changing deadlines

    + Ability to accomplish specific, measurable goals, and to “see the big picture” coupled with a desire to add value to Kinder Morgan

    + Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules

    + Ability to identify, understand and meet/exceed expectations in an employee/employer relationship

    + Ability to perform the required and expected duties with minimal supervision

    + Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job

    Physical demands/Working conditions:

    + The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

    + This position offers a hybrid work schedule (M-W in the office, Th and Fri work remote). This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files or small file boxes, up to 20 lbs, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

    Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:

    Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

    + Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory accounting principles, including knowledge of FERC rules and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)

    + Advanced Access / database management skills

    + Experience with Lawson financial software, specifically the General Ledger module

    + General understanding of the energy industry and familiarity with industry terminology.

     

    The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Pay range: $64,200 - $100,900 annually. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
