Lead HVAC Technician
Job Description
As a Lead HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems. This role requires expertise in installing split systems and heat pumps, as well as proficiency in handling gas pipe, sheet metal, PVC, and electric components.
Responsibilities
+ Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including split systems and heat pumps.
+ Conduct duct installation and routing.
+ Handle refrigerants properly and perform system tuning/charging.
+ Provide technical direction and on-the-job training.
+ Coordinate construction efforts with other trades.
+ Conduct performance tests using specialized tools.
+ Maintain OSHA standards and ensure compliance with appliance standards.
+ Travel to homes and businesses on a daily basis as scheduled.
+ Identify maintenance risks on equipment and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
+ Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
+ Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
+ Determine customer needs and discuss all solution methods.
+ Repair damaged HVAC systems.
+ Keep accurate records of customer appointments and transactions, including invoices.
+ Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of experience as an HVAC technician.
+ Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
+ Proficient in balancing new systems with HVAC protocols.
+ Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
+ EPA 608 Certification.
+ Valid driver’s license and vehicle for site transport.
+ Working knowledge of boiler systems.
+ High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
+ Talented in using HVAC specialty tools including sheet metal break, gauges, manometer, hand tools, pipe fitting, acetylene torch.
+ OSHA 10 Hour certified (course can be provided).
+ Willingness to continue education in the HVAC field.

Work Environment
Be prepared to safely work in active construction sites alongside other trades. This role involves working on ladders and rooftops, with exposure to unconditioned work sites, meaning you will experience both winter and summer conditions. Dust and small work environments are common, but proper safety measures will always be in place to ensure a clean and safe working space.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oak Park, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
