Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure- track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the School of Health Professions, College of Nursing & Health Professions.
This nine-month, tenure-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Epidemiology and Biostatistics courses in the Public Health programs in the school, developing a programmatic line of research, and providing service to the school, college, university and professional organizations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teaching (online and face-to-face) in the undergraduate and graduate Public Health programs in a variety of courses in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Teaching includes preparation of course materials such as syllabi, course content, homework assignments, and handouts; evaluation and grading of students’ class work, assignments, and papers; maintaining student office hours in order to assist students.
+ Commitment to build and sustain a robust research agenda to include creation and dissemination of new knowledge and pursuit of external research support.
+ Participates in program, school, college, and university service (as assigned).
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) at the time of appointment in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related discipline.
Demonstrated line of scholarly inquiry evidenced by submission of peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, and/or grant submissions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Specialized knowledge in the field of epidemiology or biostatistics as demonstrated by graduate level coursework or professional experience is required.
+ Knowledge of programming languages such as R and SAS.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional work experience using epidemiology and/or biostatistics in a public health or healthcare setting.
Experience teaching in multiple delivery modes (asynchronous online, synchronous online, and face-to-face).
Experience with CEPH accreditation.
