Job Description
The primary role of the B Operator is to master all functions of the Bulk Material Handler and Scale House Operator positions as part of the Operator training program. This training ensures a seamless transition into Operations whenever a position becomes available. The Bulk Material Handler's duties include sampling, monitoring, and loading/unloading incoming trucks and railcars, overseeing tank levels, and transferring materials within the tank farm on a daily basis. Additionally, the B Operator will serve as the scale house operator as needed. This position involves working in a 24/7 refinery operation, requiring availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
+ Perform sampling and monitoring of incoming trucks and railcars.
+ Load and unload materials from trucks and railcars.
+ Monitor tank levels and perform material transfers within the tank farm.
+ Conduct scale operations and manage related paperwork.
+ Answer telephones and operate office equipment such as copy and fax machines.
+ Engage in data entry and compile paperwork accurately.
+ Stay updated with company information via email, including work schedules and production updates.
+ Learn plant operations and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of chemical operation experience.
+ Ability to lift 60 lbs.
+ Understanding and troubleshooting basic pump operations, including cavitation, seal leaks, and vibrations.
+ Proficiency with basic tools: pipe wrench, crowbar, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Basic familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel.
+ Ability to calculate levels in tanks using basic math.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with heavy equipment operation.
+ Background in construction.
+ Experience in quality control and general labor.
+ Skills in forklift operation and gauge reading.
+ Mechanically inclined.

Work Environment
This position is located at an oil refinery in Columbus, where candidates will work outdoors for the entire shift. Proper safety attire, including a hard hat, safety glasses, flame-resistant clothing, and safety-toe shoes, is mandatory. Occasionally, a full-face respirator may be required. The environment can be dusty at times with limited exposure to chemicals.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
