Job Title: CNC Setup Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated CNC Setup Machinist for the 2nd shift. The position offers a flexible start time between 3 PM and 7 PM, with an 8-hour shift, 6-7 days a week. The role involves providing comprehensive support for all production CNC turning and milling activities.
Responsibilities
+ Perform setups and changeovers between various production parts.
+ Upload and maintain the latest CNC programs to the company server, ensuring the program database is current for all active production jobs.
+ Classify folders per cell/job number and move all obsolete programs to the obsolete folder for reference.
+ Actively implement and suggest improvement ideas to reduce cycle times, perishable tooling costs, and scrap rates, and communicate these improvements across all shifts.
+ Monitor tool wear, report when tools are not reaching the desired piece-per-edge standards, and suggest adjustments to tool life as necessary.
+ Write, implement, and maintain lathe gantry programs.
+ Manage and maintain the CNC lathe tooling area, including ordering spares as necessary.
+ Perform or assist in preventative maintenance and routine machine/tooling checks.
+ Train other employees in all aspects of CNC turning and milling to enhance team capabilities and ensure consistent operational quality.
+ Maintain all work holding, including ordering spares as necessary.
+ Perform all other duties as assigned to support production goals and maintain operational efficiency.
Essential Skills
+ Hands-on experience with Fanuc CNC controls.
+ Minimum 7+ years’ experience in CNC machining.
+ Understanding of M and G code, and ability to make program edits.
+ Knowledge of lathe bar and insert setup, tool geometry, and offsets.
+ Fluency in G, D, and T.
+ Understanding of chuck and collet setup in lathes.
+ Ability to use indicators to check runout and perform initial setups.
+ Understanding of CMM Reports.
+ Proficiency in using hand gauging equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, Depth Mic, etc.).
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
+ Proven experience operating and setting up Murata lathes and various VMC.

Work Environment
Work in a dynamic setting with 7 automated lines, CNC mills and lathes, Fanuc robots, and conveyors/gantries between each machine, all contributing to fully automated lines.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelby Township, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
