    Description

    This position is for a CNC Machinist that plans and performs a variety of machine operations utilizing numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications. This position could have fit into a variety of their different cells and product lines, they are looking for someone to run their CNC Mill cell, this is a 4 axis machine, will be a job shop style of facility. They work with mainly stainless steel and tight tolerances. Most of their product lines require boring, drilling, key slotting and topping. They have Okumas, Mori Seiki, Puma and Haas Machines.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Interprets complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done

    Performs a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances

    Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine machining sequence and dimensions of finished work piece

    Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions

    Selects and installs cutting tools in machine spindle or magazine

    Loads programs in machine control console or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database, programs will tell them all their settings including speeds and feeds

    Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine

    Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools

    Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions

    Performs a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications

    Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions

    Job Requirements

    Ideal - 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, mill would be preferred

    Open to - 2+ years of experience as a CNC Operator

     

    Ability to perform full set ups (3 set ups per shift)

     

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints

     

    Mechanical skills with hand and power tools, micrometers, calipers and other measurement devices

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
