Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant provides vital support to the Business Office and the Accounting Director in the preparation of financial statements and reports that accurately reflect the organization’s financial position. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and efficient analysis, communication, and reporting of financial data in accordance with GAAP. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the month-end and year-end close process, working collaboratively with team members while proactively seeking opportunities to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
Essential Functions
+ Prepare monthly reconciliations and analysis of Accounts Receivable and Allowance for Doubtful Accounts.
+ Prepare monthly reconciliations and analysis of Deferred Revenue and Hospital Rotations.
+ Prepare reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts, including supporting documentation.
+ Prepare monthly cash reporting, including required reports for the Department of Education.
+ Assist with external reporting for CAAM, Census Bureau, Grenada Statistical Office, Florida DOE, KYC for vendors, and other agencies as required.
+ Assist with financial audits for all companies.
+ Establish processes and procedures and provide support for 1099, 1098-T, and T11La governmental tax reporting.
+ Assist with preparing quarterly and annual Bank Compliance Certificates.
+ Prepare schedules and documentation for external tax consultants.
+ Provide backup support for vendor and student refund check validation, wire payments, check signing, and other treasury-related functions as needed.
+ Contribute to the accounting close process by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls.
+ Leverage tools such as Power BI to support financial reporting, analytics, and data visualization.
+ Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance reporting quality, and strengthen operational efficiency.

+ Detail-oriented and thorough, with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
+ Experience with Banner (or similar ERP system) preferred.
+ Experience with SAP Concur travel, expense, and invoice management tool.
+ Ability to navigate and create simple queries in Microsoft Access.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Power BI strongly preferred.
+ Openness to work optimization and continuous improvement, with strong follow-through on projects.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
+ Advanced degree or CPA designation preferred.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, including financial close responsibilities.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
+ This job is performed at a workstation in a positive, creative and collaborative environment that may sometimes become quite noisy.
+ This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
Hours and Travel
+ Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
+ Travel anticipated less than 10%.
The anticipated salary range for the Senior Accountant is $68,000 to $80,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary and will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate. This information is provided per NYS local law.
