    Position Summary:

    HII- Mission Technologies is looking for a Network Engineer. The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level network infrastructure in support of organizational objectives, including Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) accredited systems. This position requires 2-4 years of hands-on experience and involves moderately complex tasks such as network design, security implementation, performance optimization, and project coordination. The Network Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, mentors junior staff, and ensures reliable, secure, and scalable network performance. The Network Engineer will serve as an expert within the organization on network enhancements from both an infrastructure and hardware standpoint to include:

     

    + Conduct network design and implementation by designing, configuring, and deploying network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, wireless networks, routers, switches, firewalls, and optical/copper backbones. Plan upgrades, integrate new hardware/software, and ensure compatibility with enterprise standards and DODIN accreditation requirements.

    + Execute maintenance and monitoring by performing routine maintenance, automated monitoring, and performance diagnostics on network devices (e.g., Juniper EX Switches, Juniper SRX Firewalls, CradlePoint routers, Aruba Switches and Aruba Wireless). Conduct testing to forecast performance thresholds, analyze traffic, and report usage trends.

    + Conduct troubleshooting and issue resolution by investigating and resolving moderately complex network issues escalated from Tier 1/2 support, using tools like packet analyzers to address routing, switching, security, and connectivity problems.

    + Administer security and compliance techniques by implementing security measures, applying patches, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with disaster recovery plans, cyber compliance standards, and DODIN requirements. Perform risk management to minimize project and operational risks.

    + Author documentation and reporting metrics by maintaining detailed documentation for network architecture, disaster recovery plans, and project requirements. Prepare status reports, summarize trends, and recommend enhancements based on emerging technologies (e.g., SDN, Cloud Integration, Storage & Backup Solutions).

    + Provide mentoring, leadership, guidance and training to junior engineers or technicians on troubleshooting, best practices, and tool usage. Act as a service advocate, enhancing operational viability and end-user satisfaction.

    + Conduct research and innovation by evaluating new network technologies, reviewing proposed designs for security risks, and recommending mitigation strategies to enhance organizational capabilities.

    + Coordinating amongst various teams in different engineering disciplines to present a unified, integrated product to project stakeholders. Participating in integration activities to complete complex IT and communications system designs, implementations, and associated sustainment activities.

    What you will do

     

    + Work on-site and on-location as part of a team of professionals managing and deploying network infrastructure in support of a fast-paced mission partner in a dynamic environment.

    + Design and install complex network and IT/communications systems, including hardware deployment and integration.

    + Develop and manage network service lifecycle activities, ensuring cyber compliance and delivery of operational, maintenance, and sustainment (OMS) services.

    + Provide detailed schematics, specifications, and recommendations for hardware/software selection to meet present and future capacity needs.

    + Conduct network testing, assess proposed changes for system authorization impacts, and support upgrades of legacy systems.

    + Support backlog requirements, capability roadmaps, and integration activities to meet project timelines and deliverables.

    + Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to peers, management, and stakeholders.

     

    What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications

     

    + 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

    + Active Secret Security Clearance required; ability to obtain Top Secret preferred.

    + 2-4 years of hands-on network engineering experience, including configuring and supporting Juniper or similar environments (e.g., SRX, EX/QFX, Aruba). Experience in a government contracting environment is preferred.

    + Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and OSI Layers 1-4.

    + Expertise with hardware/software such as Juniper routers/switches, SRXs, Aruba Wireless/switches, CradlePoint, and monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, Secure CRT/Putty).

    + Knowledge of virtualization (e.g., VMware, vSAN), cloud networking (e.g., GCP, Azure), and security practices (e.g., IPSec, Radius/TACACS+, 802.1x).

    + Familiarity with diagnostic tools for traffic analysis, capacity planning, and performance optimization.

    + Experience with network security (e.g., IDS, ACLs, IPSEC tunnels) and compliance (e.g., DISA STIG Checklist).

    + JNCIA-Junos, CCNA, Security+, or equivalent required; CCNP or JNCIS-ENT preferred.

    + Experience working in a government contracting environment

    + Skilled in systems and network engineering and support of software/hardware, including the following: Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) (ASAv); Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Cisco Wireless Lan Controller (WLC), Aruba Wireless Lan Controller (WLC), Cisco Wireless Access Point (WAP), Aruba Wireless Access Point (WAP), Secure CRT / Putty, Aruba AOS and CX Switches, TCP/IP, DISA STIG Checklist, Remote Access VPN Tunnels, Site-to-Site VPN Tunnels

    + The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

    Preferred Requirements

    + Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment

    + Awareness of emerging technologies (e.g., SDN, cloud migration) and ability to recommend improvements.

    + Experience with Juniper SRX Firewalls Switches, Aruba AOS/CX switches, VoIP, QoS, HSRP, VRRP, load balancers, and enterprise wireless services.

    Physical Requirements

    + May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
