Job Title: MechanicDepartment: Facilities Location: Canton Potsdam Hospital (with travel to Massena and Gouverneur Hospitals when working on specific projects) Hours Per Week: 40 hours weekly (One week on call requirement; happens every 8-10 weeks if fully staffed)Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm (On call has weekend requirements as well) SUMMARY:

The Facilities Mechanic supports all sites under CPH Facilities and may assist Massena Hospital and Gouverneur Hospital with specific projects. This role plays a key part in maintaining a high-quality environment of care, directly contributing to a positive experience for both patients and staff. The position offers the opportunity to join a collaborative team with room for professional growth within the organization.

An on-call rotation is required, typically one week in duration with additional compensation. When fully staffed, this rotation occurs approximately once every 8–10 weeks.

The Facilities Mechanic installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems and associated equipment as directed by leadership. Work involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to support mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facilities. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed under the guidance of senior mechanics or facilities leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Perform maintenance and repairs on gas systems, automatic doors, hospital beds, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical fixtures.

+ Plan, coordinate, and complete mechanical work tasks and preventive maintenance projects.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system issues, assisting senior mechanics with complex systems such as pneumatic tubes and medical gas.

+ Conduct inspections, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and document all work performed.

+ Safely operate and maintain tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs efficiently.

+ Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to determine maintenance requirements.

+ Support facility operations during equipment shutdowns and assist with contractor oversight as needed.

+ Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, including ICRA, Lockout/Tagout, OSHA, and JCAHO.

+ Communicate effectively with staff and leadership, ensuring timely project updates and issue resolution.

+ Manage supplies, maintain accurate records, and support a safe, well-maintained environment of care.

+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related mechanical trade

+ Experience working in a healthcare environment

+ Concentration or background in healthcare maintenance

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
