    SUMMARY:

    The R.N. III maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnosis, plan, implement and evaluate to execute appropriate individual patient care. Responsible for orientation, training/precepting, and mentoring of other staff on the unit. The R.N. is instrumental in providing an exceptional experience for patient and family.

    PACU

    The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a Critical Care Unit providing care for patients who are recovering from surgery. In this role, you will monitor and assess patients’ vital signs recovering from anesthesia, identify and address any complications or changes in patient conditions, educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations, and collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assessment - Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

    + Planning & Implementation - Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family.

    + Evaluation & Education - Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.

    + Training - Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.

    + Registered Nurse license in New York State.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    + Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s of Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
