    Scope of Job

    To manage the University’s visual storytelling function across both photography and videography in order to inform, engage, and entertain audiences and support the university’s communication and marketing goals. Provides professional and administrative work involving complete responsibility for directing and supervising multimedia productions.

    Description of Duties

    • Directs and supervises all aspects of the production area including: client and project management, supervision and training of staff, studio operations, project planning, production, and post-production of commercial-quality multimedia projects characterized by excellent technique, sophisticated digital motion graphics, creative thinking, and strong storytelling.

    • Responsible for the complete, proactive management of overall production schedules including assignment of resources, equipment, and support staff.

    • Responsible for the complete planning and scheduling of projects and assignment of duties to staff members.

    • Gathers and proposes ideas and topics for multimedia projects, initiates content production meetings for new projects, assists in content development and message strategy, coordinating closely with the client and the Marketing Strategy and Coordination team.

    • Provides creative direction, produces and directs multimedia projects; develops quality standards and ensures they are met on all productions, and provides final approval on all projects ensuring they meet brand and quality guidelines.

    • Develops annual goals and assessment plans for the area, provides technical and creative guidance to staff, and conducts staff conferences and critiques in an effort to maintain high production standards.

    • Makes recommendations involving purchases of equipment, staff assignments, promotions, and operating policies. Provides consultation across the University on multimedia projects and on major audio/video/photo equipment needs and purchases, as needed.

    • Oversees all University public facing video sites such as YouTube and others.

    • Maintains and logs all projects and content for future use.

    • Manages relationships with outside vendors and freelancers, as applicable.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Direct supervision of assigned staff.

    Required Education

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

    Licenses/Certifications

     

    None.

    Required Experience

    Five (5) years of related professional experience, including supervisory experience. Work experience will be accepted in lieu of education on a 1-on-1 basis.

    Equipment

    Advanced technical knowledge of video and photographic equipment including video and still cameras, editing software, associated hardware, and computers. Use of standard office equipment.

    Working Conditions

    Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office or studio environment as well as field work; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly, to move objects.

    • Diverse visual style with strong sense of composition and eager to push the envelope creatively.

    • Knowledge of social media platforms and how to engage audiences on digital platforms.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and an aptitude for making quick, quality decisions.

    • Strong sense of customer service and consistently interact with clients with a high standard of professionalism.

    • Strong organizational skills and able to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
