As an **Applied Scientist** **- Copilot Pages and Notebooks** working in the CoPANE team, your core mission will be to deliver quality AI scenarios for the Pages and Notebooks modules in M365 Copilot. You’ll be responsible for working with other Applied Scientists to design and implement AI-powered experiences and measuring the impact of models. We are looking for candidates who are creative, self-motivated, & have a learn-it-all mindset.
This opportunity will allow you to work in an exciting and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with different product teams and shipping products globally. You’ll have access to the latest models, and research techniques that can be leveraged to advance your Applied Science skills.

Responsibilities
+ You will gain knowledge in one or more subareas of research and understand applicable research techniques. You’ll also gain deep knowledge of a service, platform, or domain, and become familiar with the latest industry trends and applied technologies.
+ You will apply strategies provided by other team members and incorporate state-of-the-art research. You’ll also develop an understanding of methods used in the community and gain skills in a deeply specialized area.
+ As you reinforce a positive environment by applying proven practices, you will also support mentorship and assist with the onboarding of early in career team members. Additionally, you will maintain ties with an external network of peers and identify prospective talent, when asked.
+ You will document work in progress and share findings to promote innovation within a group. You’ll also learn and follow ethics and privacy policies while executing research processes or collecting information.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
+ OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
+ OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years experience in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and/or statistics.
+ 2+ years experience in Python and familiarity with coding in multiple languages.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
+ OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
+ OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years experience creating publications (e.g., patents, libraries, peer-reviewed academic papers).
+ Experience presenting at conferences or other events in the outside research/industry community as an invited speaker.
+ 2+ years experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).
+ 1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.
Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
