    Minimum qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

    + 3 years of experience in an equity research, investment banking, consulting or corporate strategy role at a technology or media related company.

    + Experience in data analysis and financial modeling.

    Preferred qualifications:

    + Experience using SQL to extract and manipulate data.

    + Experience communicating, presenting, and influencing a range of audiences, including executives.

    + Experience in consumer Internet and media industries, and familiarity with industry data sources.

    + Ability to build analyses from scratch, make well-reasoned assumptions, work with large volumes of data, and triangulate across numerous data sources.

    + Excellent business judgment, with financial modeling, spreadsheet software, databases, and presentation software skills.

    The YouTube Strategy, Analytics and Finance (SAF) team’s mission is to make YouTube more valuable by identifying and steering the business towards the biggest opportunities, guiding the organization to make the best possible decisions, and enabling effective implementation with proactive and trusted risk management.

     

    Within this group, the Strategy and Market and Competitive Intelligence (M and CI) team operates similar to a dedicated internal management consulting team, driving projects and market analysis commissioned directly by YouTube’s executive leadership. The team drives recommendations on YouTube’s biggest opportunities, new trends, and key issues from navigating the rise of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and short-form video, to analyzing new business opportunities like Shopping, to capturing growth in subscriptions, to responsibly managing the health of the creator and partner ecosystem, and more. The Market and Competitive Intelligence function proactively analyzes and informs YouTube’s leaders on trends in the engaging ecosystems that are evolving quickly or could have an outsized impact on YouTube.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$170,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    + Work on the priorities of YouTube’s executives by analyzing market/engaging trends, business drivers, and operational metrics to inform how best to solve problems and capture opportunities.

    + Provide regular updates and financial developments for key markets, partners, and competitors in regular updates to leadership.

    + Prepare presentations for YouTube’s executives (including CEO, CBO, CPO, VP of Engineering) and the broader leadership of YouTube.

    + Conduct financial modeling and data analysis to support projects for leadership, which can range from market sizing, engaging assessments, and user preference research.

    + Help to drive thought leadership, industry analysis, tracking, and earnings coverage. Collect and consolidate both quantitative and qualitative data from primary sources (census information, company filings, etc.) to inform POV on industries or markets.
