    Northrop Grumman (DoD SkillBridge) -** **Cyber Software Engineer or Principal Cyber Software Engineer

    DoD SkillBridge Program Description:

    As one of the largest global security companies in the world, Northrop Grumman is proud to help our nation’s military personnel navigate their next chapter into civilian careers. Approximately 20% of Northrop Grumman’s 100,000 employees self-identify as veterans, and more than 2,000 are reservists.

     

    The Northrop Grumman DoD SkillBridge Program is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The program is an opportunity for service members preparing for civilian careers to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The DoD SkillBridge Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members **.**

    Responsibilities for DoD SkillBridge Program participation are:

    Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – DoD SkillBridge Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. Through this program, the service-member will work on site with their host company, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

     

    **Goals** _– Provide separating service-members with job skills training in a professional setting during the final phase of their military service. This program is specifically designed to offer hands-on experience that result in the potential to convert to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Participants will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC._

    **Objectives** _- Service Members who complete the DoD SkillBridge program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities._

    **Outcome** _– Offer service-members preparing for civilian careers a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team._

    DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

    + Has served at least 180 days on active duty

    + Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

    + Will receive an honorable discharge

    + Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

    + Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

    + Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

    We invite you to join our team as a Cyber Software Engineer or Principal Cyber Software Engineer based in Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing secure internal web applications for intranet usage. This position demands extensive knowledge in database design, secure software development, web design, and proficiency in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

     

    This position is 100% onsite, and located in Annapolis, MD.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Design, develop, and implement web-based databases for internal and external user applications while adhering to secure coding practices aligned with OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25.

    + Manage deployed databases and websites, addressing customer needs and concerns, providing regular updates, and patching vulnerabilities in owned software.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into all systems and applications.

    + Stay current with modern software design paradigms.

    + Provide expert guidance and training to junior team members and customers, both internal and external, on software best practices.

    + Work independently without supervision and meet rapid deployment deadlines while ensuring solutions meet customer product requirements.

    + Occasionally travel domestically for program-related meetings with external contractors or offices.

    + Integrate cyber requirements into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps).

    + Build systems in compliance with Zero Trust Architecture principles.

    + Document secure designs and risk mitigations to support Approval to Operate decisions.

     

    This requisition may be fulfilled at either the Cyber Software Engineer or Principal Cyber Software Engineer level.

    Basic Qualifications for Cyber Software Engineer:

    + Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 0 years of experience. Candidates with 6+ years of real-world software engineering and cyber experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

    + Must possess a current DoD 8140 (8570) Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to the start date or demonstrate the ability to obtain this certification within one year of hiring (e.g., Security+ CE).

    + Familiarity with Linux computing environments.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft computing systems.

    + Experience with Agile development methodologies.

    + Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

    Basic Qualifications for Principal Cyber Software Engineer:

    + Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, a master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with 1 year of experience. Candidates with 9+ years of real-world software engineering and cyber experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

    + Must possess a current DoD 8140 (8570) Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to the start date or demonstrate the ability to obtain this certification within one year of hiring (e.g., Security+ CE).

    + Familiarity with Linux computing environments.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft computing systems.

    + Experience with Agile development methodologies.

    + Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:

    + Active Secret clearance or higher.

    + Current DoD 8140 (8570) Certification for IAT Level II or higher prior to start date (e.g., Security+ CE).

    + Proficiency in full-stack web development.

    + Experience in database design and maintenance.

    + Knowledge of updating and maintaining legacy systems.

    + Experience with programming languages such as C#, Visual Basic, Java, and Ruby.

    + Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and HTML.

    + Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other SQL databases.

    + Familiarity with .NET framework, Angular, and Spring.

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interfacing with employees and management at all levels.

    + Ability to deliver detailed instructions, demonstrations, and training to individuals and groups.

     

    Primary Level Salary Range: $93,900.00 - $140,900.00

     

    Secondary Level Salary Range: $115,800.00 - $173,800.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
