    Are you an experienced leader with a background in stormwater field operations? In this management role, you will oversee staff and daily activities of assigned work crews responsible for routine, emergency maintenance and special projects; arranges for necessary equipment, tools and assistance from other operations

     

    You’ll play a key role in operational planning, including budgeting, staffing, employee development and discipline, scheduling, and coordination with stormwater engineering.

     

    The starting pay rage is $75,233.60 - $83,000.00/ annually (based on experience), and benefits begin within 60 days of hire. Join us in helping to keep Sarasota County safe and resilient against stormwater challenges.

     

    About the Position

    What You’ll Do:

    + Provide leadership to Field Services stormwater operations team.

    + Generate and maintain exceptional customer service and relationships with customers/residents and other departments and government agencies.

    + Assist with operating budget, business plans, staffing plans, goals and objectives.

    + Participate in hiring of staff, performance reviews and disciplinary actions.

    + Review and monitor safety equipment and correct safety procedures.

    + Ensure compliance with county, state and OSHA regulations; coordinates use of external resources/vendors.

    + Assist with master schedule of routine maintenance operations.

    + Assist with establishing workload priorities to meet deadlines.

    + Coordinate and ensure appropriate supply of work materials; tracks and maintains store inventories.

    + Lead/direct/supervisor lower-level positions in organizing/coordinating the daily activities/functions and emergency operations of assigned work crews.

    + Monitor and review work crew assignments and equipment demands.

    + Arrange for staff and major equipment at emergency and scheduled work sites.

    + Monitor, analyze/asses effectiveness and efficiency of all aspects of work performed and recommends adjustments to job plans.

    + Implement and monitor vendor contracts; assists in union negotiations as assigned.

    + Work closely with stormwater engineering and Capital Projects for stormwater quality initiatives, pipe lining program and review of design plans.

    + Manage proactive assessments of fraud awareness, prevention, detection and risk mitigation activities in area of responsibility; oversees financial, compliance, operational and performance audits; reviews audit findings and ensures appropriate controls are established and implemented.

     

    Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

     

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Business Administration, Finance, or a highly related field AND four (4) years of performing maintenance/general operations work experience.

    + -OR- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND six (6) years of job-related experience.

    + -OR- Professional-related experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

    + Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience in the related field.

    + A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Knowledge of current principles and practices relating to stormwater operations and maintenance.

    + Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and regulations related to stormwater management.

    + Ability to analyze operations and maintenance problems and develop and implement appropriate procedures for correction.

    + Experience in creating and implementing routine maintenance schedules.

     

    Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.

     

    Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

    Starting Pay Range: $75,233.60 - $83,000.00/ annually , based on experience
