    Duties and Responsibilities

    The postdoctoral researcher will work in Dr. Michael Grillo’s plant evolutionary genetics lab. The goal of this research project is to understand the genomic basis of plant-microbiome variation in legumes. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for designing and implementing genome-wide association studies of plant-microbiome variation, collecting empirical data, conducting bioinformatic and statistical analyses, manuscript preparation, and mentoring of undergraduate students in research. This position provides opportunities for post-doctoral researcher to attend conferences and teaching experience in the Department of Biology. Strong candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, with expertise in statistical and analytical methods in genomics, ecology and evolution. The position is for one year with the possibility of renewal for additional years based on performance and funding.

    Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

    + Education Required: Ph.D. in evolution, genomics, plant biology, microbiology, or a related field.

    + Experience Required: Experience in plant evolutionary biology or genomics including associated bioinformatic and statistical approaches, manuscript preparation, and mentoring of undergraduate researchers.

    Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with experience conducting genome wide association studies, mutant screens, amplicon sequencing, or metagenomics are preferred.

    Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

    Education Required. Ph.D. in evolution, genomics, plant biology, microbiology, or a related field.

     

    Computer Skills

     

    High performance computing including experience with R, python, and/or general experience with command line coding and bioinformatics software and approaches.
