TheLouisiana Department of Health, Office of Aging and Adult Services, is seeking a dedicatedAdult Protection Specialist 1–3to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults.
In this vital role, you’ll use yourinvestigative, analytical, and crisis intervention skillsto assess at-risk situations, develop service plans, and coordinate with healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community partners to protect adults in need. Minimum Qualifications
Four years of social services experience; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus one year of social services experience; OR
A bachelor's degree plus one year of social services experience; OR
A master's degree in social work, a social science, education, counseling or vocational rehabilitation.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Evaluate reportsof suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or extortion to determine if they meet criteria for Adult Protective Services intervention.
+ Conduct thorough investigationsof confirmed cases by gathering evidence, interviewing involved parties, and documenting findings in compliance with state laws and departmental procedures.
+ Assess the needs and risksof vulnerable or disabled adults to determine the level of intervention and support required for their safety and well-being.
+ Develop and implement service plansand coordinate with community agencies, healthcare providers, and family members to address identified risks and stabilize situations.
+ Monitor and review service outcomesto ensure interventions are effective, risks are minimized, and client safety is maintained.
+ Initiate legal or protective actionswhen necessary by collaborating with law enforcement, district attorneys, and legal staff, and provide court testimony or reports as required.
