The Substitute Teacher implements the daily instructionalplans of the classroom teacher in an effective manner. The Substitute Teacher maintains a classenvironment favorable to learning and personal growth and establishes effectiverapport with pupils while maintaining proper classroom management. TheSubstitute Teacher works effectively and in collaboration with the buildingadministrator and other teachers.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s Degree or higher required
+ Teacher license/certification, as applicable by state,contract or district
+ One year of experience, preferred
+ Willingness and ability to accept direct responsibility forsafety, wellbeing, or work output of other people
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Position Title: Long-Term Substitute Teacher
Pay Rate: $35/hour
Duration: Remainder of the 2025–2026 School Year
Type: Full-Day, On-Site
Position Overview: South Central Wisconsin school districts are seeking qualified long-term substitute teachers to support various classrooms for the remainder of the school year. These roles are essential to maintaining instructional continuity and supporting student success across multiple grade levels and subject areas.
Responsibilities:
+ Deliver lesson plans and maintain classroom routines
+ Support student learning and engagement
+ Collaborate with grade-level teams and school staff
+ Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
+ Adapt to different grade levels and subject areas as needed
Preferred Skills & Experience:
+ Prior teaching or classroom experience
+ Flexibility to work across elementary and middle school levels
+ Strong classroom management and communication skills
+ Ability to follow district curriculum and instructional plans
+ Experience in general education, ELA, STEAM, or Family & Consumer Science is a plus
Licensure Requirements (WI DPI):
To qualify for a long-term substitute teaching role in Wisconsin, candidates must meet one of the following:
Five-Year Long-Term Substitute License
+ Completion of an approved educator preparation program
+ Hold or be eligible to hold a Wisconsin teaching license (or equivalent from another state)
+ Allows short-term substitution outside the licensed area (up to 45 days)
+ Renewable every five years
+ Apply via DPI Licensing Portal (https://www.dpi.wi.gov/licensing/apply-educator-license/substitute)
Three-Year Short-Term Substitute Permit
+ Hold an associate degree or higher
+ Complete an approved substitute training program
+ Valid for short-term assignments (up to 45 days per role)

+ 5th Grade – Regular classroom teacher
+ 3rd Grade
+ Second Grade – Long-term sub
+ STEAM Coach
+ Fourth Grade – General education classroom
+ Family & Consumer Science – Focus on Food & Cultures
+ 2nd Grade – Mario Caputo backfill
