    UPMC Hamot, a Magnet designated facility located in Erie, PA is hiring a Clinician to join the Main Operating Room!

     

    UPMC Hamot's Operating Room is a 17-suite facility with specialties ranging from Robotics and Kidney Transplants to Trauma. The team provides high-quality care for elective and urgent patients of all ages. The Clinician will oversee the Urology and Renal Transplant service lines.

     

    This position is four 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday with occasional on-call hours.

     

    Previous OR experience highly preferred.

    Sign-On Bonus Details (Full-Time status)

    * $15,000 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience

    Purpose: The Clinician is a nurse leader who has direct responsibility in the achievement of a culture of excellence and patient care. The Clinician is a highly developed role model of professional nursing practice. Under the general direction of the Unit Director or other department manager, the Clinician will complete and deliver employee evaluations, conduct selection and hiring of staff, and manage the daily performance for a group of direct reports. The Clinician is responsible for providing service-based education and clinical expertise for staff including orientation and training, consultation on practice issues, and general coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may have shift accountability for delivering nursing care when needed.

    + Supports the development of others through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing.

    + Acts as a preceptor for various nursing roles and helps train new preceptors.

    + Promotes continuous learning and shares expertise beyond the clinical unit.

    + Aligns work with professional and organizational goals to improve safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

    + Creates compassionate, healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

    + Shares innovations through presentations, posters, and publications.

    + Uses Relationship Based Care and the nursing process to address patient needs holistically.

    + Demonstrates critical thinking in analyzing complex patient care issues.

    + Communicates effectively with care teams and ensures thorough documentation.

    + Leads clinical practice improvements and supports staff through change and transition.

    + Participates in shared leadership and may hold formal leadership roles in quality, onboarding, or evidence-based practice.

    + Assists with staff performance evaluations when applicable.

    + Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required.

    + BS/BSN required; if BS is not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required.

    + Master's degree preferred.

    + Proven competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.

    + Ability to provide age-appropriate care based on unit-specific guidelines.

    + Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.

    + Skilled in assessing and interpreting patient data to meet age-specific needs.

    + Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with all levels of staff and patients/families.

    + Effective in managing multiple priorities and working within complex environments.

    + Demonstrates exemplary clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

    + Capable of leading others in applying the nursing process.

    + Physically able to walk, stand, lift, and position patients frequently.

    + Possesses mobility, visual/manual dexterity, and physical stamina for clinical duties.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

    + Registered Nurse (RN) Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

    + National Certification preferred.

    *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
