UPMC Hamot is seeking a dedicated and skilled Journeyman 1 - Stationary Engineer to join our Facilities team in Erie, PA. This full-time position primarily works second shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) following a comprehensive training period, and includes alternating weekends and holidays. As a key member of our operations team, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and monitoring our boiler systems, while also supporting other critical infrastructure such as HVAC, medical gases, and domestic water systems. Responsibilities: + Operate Boilers safely and efficiently in automatic or manual modes utilizing primary and alternate fuel sources as needed. + Maintain associated components of Boilers, Condensate Pumps, Feed Water Pumps, Deaerator tank, Plant Master Controls, and Feedwater master controls. + Maintain water chemistry and perform testing procedures on boilers, feedwater, cooling towers, and other equipment and building systems and make adjustments as required. + Maintain all written logs for Boilers and associated components. + Document pressures, temperatures, steam production, water usage, gas/oil consumption. etc. + Safely and efficiently operate and maintain all mechanical systems, i.e., steam pressure heating systems, water systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment, etc.; round mechanical equipment and machine rooms in all buildings as assigned. + Maintain electrical distribution systems, locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.; inspect fire alarm system and provide first response to all fire alarms. + Rebuild hot water pumps, condensate return pumps and other pumps as required. + Maintain Air compressors. + Maintain clean and safe work areas including utility plant, equipment rooms, and shop areas. + Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc. + Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems. + Order materials as needed. + Perform all work following infection control procedures. + Complete minor repairs and painting on equipment and piping systems in the utility plant. + Complete preventative maintenance tasks and work orders as assigned and document through the CMMS system. + Perform minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes, and clogged drains. + May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed. _Applicants will be placed in the appropriate of the career ladder based on education, experience, and manager discretion._ Candidates who do not meet qualifications of the Journeyman level could be considered for a General Maintenance 2 role but would need a current City of Erie Water Tender license (held that license for at least 1 year 10 months) to be eligible to pass the Stationary engineer exam within 60 days, during which we can train and help with the education necessary. Required: + High school diploma or GED required.Two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program or an Apprenticeship in a Trade. Military experience considered.ORCompletion of a high school diploma/GED and a Total of 8 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required. Military experience considered.2 years' stationary engineer work experience working in a healthcare or commercial building environment required. General Maintenance Requirements: + Current Water Tender License with City of Erie for 1 year and 10 months and eligible to pass Stationary Engineer exam within 60 days. + High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years general maintenance-related work experience OR completion of a trade school required. Military experience considered. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + Driver's License is required to meet the local or state governing authorities' requirements and meet applicable local codes. License is required within 30 days of hire. + Driver's License + Stationary Power Engineer + Act 34 + City of Erie Stationary Engineer License is required, but would consider a Water Tender licensed individual if they are eligible to take the Stationary exam.
