Ozarks First in Springfield, MO, is hiring a Reporter/MMJ with a specific focus on creating digital content. This is a position for someone focused on delivering creative, visual, and engaging stories to our audience on ozarksfirst.com, on CTV, on social media, and on broadcast.This is a role for a digitally savvy self-starter. You must be a storyteller with a passion for creating unique local digital content, and you know exactly where to look. Storytelling drives you, but you’ve got tech skills.
The digital reporter should be a skilled writer who can craft headlines and content that provide value to the audience and drive user engagement. The reporter will use data to make decisions about audience interest trends.
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Deliver multiple stories for the website each day on a wide range of topics
+ Enterprise original stories that resonate with the digital, streaming, and social media audience
+ When needed, deliver live reports with confidence and clarity
+ Write and produce content in a clear, concise, and engaging manner tailored to each platform.
+ Build a network of sources to help Ozarks First stay ahead of its competitors
+ Collaborate with the news team to find angles that resonate in the community
+ Understand types of stories that drive traffic on the web
+ Shoot photos, video, and sound to tell stories in multiple ways
+ Interact frequently with viewers/users on social media platforms to build engagement and brand
Requirements & Skills:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
+ Experience in creating digital content
+ Knowledge of AP style and WordPress
+ Collaborator and a strong communicator
+ Self-motivated and competitive
+ Ensure all content meets Ozarks First/Nexstar standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
+ Work on special projects and other duties as assigned, including community service initiatives
+ Fluency in English
+ Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
+ Flexibility to work any shift
