Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts/Auto Hobby Center on JBER, AK. Regular Part-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 20 hours to a maximum of 34 hours per week. Responsibilities Greets customers in a friendly and welcoming manner. Ensures customers complete all required paperwork for facility usage. Maintains system for accountability of tools issued to customers. Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair stall and removal of excess automotive parts. Ensures tools turned-in are clean and in same working condition as issued, inspects issued tools/equipment for damage, assessing fee/charge for lost/damaged tools and equipment by the prescribed price listing. Operates cash register and accounts for funds using established internal control procedures. Maintains accountability for tool inventory. Maintains tools in proper working order, by performs minor maintenance and repairs. Removes unsafe or broken tools from use. Develops list of items needing replacement on a regular recurring basis. Arranges and maintains tool room and tools/equipment in an orderly manner. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of automotive tools; good workshop practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized and secure storage area; inventory procedures and records maintenance. In addition, must have experience working with patrons providing quality customer service. Must be able to follow written and/or oral instruction, make simple mathematical computations and be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
