Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPEC (NETWORK), Position Description Number T5239P01 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veterans' preference does not apply to this vacancy due to internal merit promotion. Responsibilities As an IT SPEC (NETWORK) (GS-2210-12), you will serve as a project leader for major network projects relating to the Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) systems. The incumbent functions as the technical coordinator or technical specialist on issues relating to the WAN/LAN systems and their integration with the network. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: A basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, analyzing network traffic patterns; and installing network software fixes and upgrades. Conducting performance tuning activities designed to optimize data management processes and recommends performance enhancements such as increasing storage capacity or modifying interfaces. May be assigned to assist the chief by performing limited leader responsibilities. Distributes and balances workload among employees. Gives on-the-job training to lower-graded employees. Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level within 9 months of employment pending training seat availability This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
