    **Reports To:** Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Director for the CRNA Program provides leadership and operational oversight in support of the Program Director to ensure the program’s academic, clinical, and accreditation goals are achieved. This role assists in managing daily operations, student and faculty support, curriculum implementation, and compliance with the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) standards. The Assistant Director collaborates with faculty, clinical partners, and school leadership to promote program excellence and contribute to the preparation of highly competent Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Academic and Program Leadership

    + Assist the Program Director in the strategic planning, development, and continuous evaluation of the CRNA program.

    + Support curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation to ensure alignment with COA standards and institutional objectives.

    + Serve as a resource for faculty regarding teaching methodologies, simulation, and evidence-based anesthesia education practices.

    + Participate in faculty recruitment, mentoring, and development initiatives.

    + Deliver didactic content and serve as a DNP practicum mentor

    Student Success and Advising

    + Advise and mentor CRNA students regarding academic progression, professional development, and clinical experiences.

    + Assist in student recruitment, admissions, and orientation activities.

    + Monitor student performance, progression, and remediation plans as needed.

    + Promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success.

    Clinical Education Support

    + Collaborate with the Clinical Coordinator and clinical partners to secure, evaluate, and maintain clinical placements.

    + Ensure student readiness for clinical practice through orientation, skills validation, and simulation experiences.

    + Evaluate clinical site effectiveness and student learning outcomes in collaboration with clinical faculty.

    Accreditation and Compliance

    + Assist with preparation of accreditation reports, self-studies, and site visits required by the COA.

    + Ensure compliance with all program, SON, University, and accrediting body policies.

    + Maintain accurate program records, including student progress, clinical experiences, and faculty qualifications.

    Administration and Operations

    + Support day-to-day program operations, scheduling, and communication with faculty, students, and stakeholders.

    + Assist with program budget management, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.

    + Contribute to policy development, workflow improvements, and program-level decision-making.

    + Represent the program at SON, University, professional, and community meetings as needed.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Doctoral degree in nursing, anesthesia practice, or a related field (DNP, DNAP, PhD, or equivalent).

    + Current certification and licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

    + At least 3–5 years of clinical anesthesia practice experience.

    + Knowledge of COA accreditation standards and processes.

    Preferred:

    + Prior leadership or administrative experience.

    + Prior experience in didactic delivery of nursing education.

    + Experience with simulation-based learning.

    + Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, clinical partners, and administrators.

    + Strong organizational, communication, and mentoring skills.
