Summary:
This individual will be responsible for leading the design and execution of the Global Workplace Services (GWS) Sustainability strategy, with a primary focus on Scope 1 emissions reduction and Scope 3 visibility and accountability. GWS accounts for nearly half of Meta’s Scope 1 emissions (e.g., natural gas, shuttle fuel, backup generators, refrigerants) and plays a highly visible role in Scope 3 categories (e.g., office waste, food and beverages, construction, employee commute, purchased goods and services).This role will ensure that GWS delivers measurable progress against Meta’s Net Zero commitments by embedding sustainability across operations, capital planning, and supply chain practices. The individual will drive alignment with Real Estate and Property Planning [REPP] and Facilities Delivery, ensuring sustainability targets and requirements are integrated into roadmaps, investment decisions, and program execution. This person will also oversee vendor-delivered tactical support (data management, reporting, certifications, program tools), ensuring these services align with GWS strategy and leadership priorities.This role will have a dotted-line into the Integration & Transformation Director for REPP and Facilities Delivery, serving as a semi-dedicated resource to ensure sustainability standards and initiatives are integrated into REPP and Facilities Delivery priorities, with continued oversight from that function.

Head of GWS Sustainability Responsibilities:
1. Develop and oversee the GWS Sustainability strategy with a primary focus on Scope 1 and 3 emissions, while supporting Scope 2 efforts
2. Drive alignment with Meta’s Net Zero roadmap, ensuring GWS commitments are translated into measurable business actions
3. Drive accountability for Scope 3 categories where GWS is highly visible (construction/embodied carbon, waste, food & beverage, commuting, purchased goods)
4. Ensure REPP and Facilities Delivery are fully integrated into sustainability decision-making, with co-ownership of roadmaps and capital planning outcomes
5. Serve as the GWS representative in Meta-wide sustainability forums, bringing forward GWS perspectives and driving alignment across Net Zero and ESG reporting
6. Work with REPP and Delivery SMEs, vendor management, and procurement to negotiate sustainability standards and targets as part of supplier output expectations, and drive accountability through governance
7. Support energy efficiency and renewables adoption across the GWS portfolio as a complementary lever
8. Provide dotted-line oversight of vendor-delivered sustainability services (e.g., reporting, carbon accounting, guidelines, sustainable materials, LEED/green building certifications, life-cycle assessments) performed through IFM and central services, ensuring alignment with GWS sustainability objectives
9. Translate data, reports, and tools into strategic choices and investment priorities for GWS
10. Work with Projects and Design to develop and champion guidance and standards for sustainable design, construction, and operations, ensuring alignment with agreed ways of working
11. Establish sustainability KPIs and dashboards for GWS, focused on Scope 1 progress and integration into REPP/Facilities delivery milestones
12. Provide leadership-level reporting (QBRs, exec updates, ESG disclosures) in alignment with Facilities and REPP cadences, ensuring a clear sustainability narrative and accountability for results
13. Ensure readiness for ESG reporting, certifications, and external accountability mechanisms
14. Act as the sustainability partner to REPP and Facilities Delivery, ensuring these teams are co-owners of the sustainability roadmap
15. Build alignment across GWS leaders and functions (Real Estate, Facilities, Culinary, Security) to embed sustainability into business-as-usual operations
16. Represent GWS in Meta-wide forums, connecting global sustainability initiatives to operational execution
17. Lead change management efforts to embed sustainability into decision-making
18. Lead change management across GWS to embed sustainability as a decision-making factor
19. Provide dotted-line oversight of sustainability-focused contingent workers and external consultants engaged through vendors and central services, ensuring deliverables align with GWS sustainability objectives
20. Drive vendor engagement to deliver against embodied carbon, supply chain transparency, and sustainability metrics
21. Partner with Facilities Delivery project managers and REPP teams to ensure external partners align with GWS standards
Minimum Qualifications:

22. 10+ years in sustainability, environmental strategy, supply chain responsibility, or related fields
23. Expertise in Scope 1 and 3 management
24. Demonstrated experience collaborating with Finance teams on metrics and reporting, including analysis of utility trends, spend management, and forecasting
25. Experience embedding sustainability into large-scale real estate, facilities, and culinary programs, with oversight of utility contracts and green procurement strategy
26. Track record of driving supplier/vendor alignment with sustainability targets
27. Influencing skills and proven success aligning a variety of different stakeholders around shared sustainability goals
28. Proven analytical and strategic thinker with hands-on experience delivering results at scale

$172,000/year to $241,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
