What You’ll Do:
Join Luminator and help shape the future of intelligent transportation systems. We’re seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to drive innovation from concept to production at our Plano, Texas headquarters. Local candidates strongly preferred.
This role offers a direct opportunity to design circuits, develop schematics, select components, and create PCB layouts that power mission-critical systems. You will lead board bring-up, evaluation, and testing—ensuring performance across EMI, ESD, vibration, and high-speed signal integrity (Ethernet, USB, PCI). From board-level diagnostics to system-level troubleshooting, your expertise will drive quality and reliability across every layer of development.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
+ Define requirements and publish specification documents.
+ Create block diagrams.
+ Develop schematics.
+ Adhere to design and release process.
+ Make component selection.
+ Design of Analog and Digital Circuits
+ Design Switching DC/DC power supply design.
+ Design Constant Current Regulator Design.
+ Design Microcontroller based System Controllers and HMIs.
+ EMI/EMC design considerations.
+ Develop PCB layouts.
+ Development and execution of PCB bring up and test plan.
+ Troubleshooting / Failure Analysis of systems down to the PCB component level
+ Collaborate with suppliers on component details and PCB fabrication and assembly details.
+ Work with cross-functional or Integrated Project Teams including mechanical, software and optical engineers. Maintain effective communication and initiative-taking identification/mitigation of potential design issues.
+ Obsolete part management / Alternate part identification.
+ Communicate technical design decisions.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Candidates must be able to perform all essential duties, with or without accommodation. The following outlines the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
+ Aircraft LED Lighting System Design Required.
+ PWA Board Design specifically with LEDs or driving LEDs Required.
+ Knowledge of RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and ARP 4754 Required.
+ Useful design documentation practices.
+ Analog/Digital Circuit Design.
+ Micro-controller and digital design.
+ Power Supply Sequencing.
+ PCB Layout.
+ Working knowledge of Ethernet, USB, CAN, I2C and SPI standards.
+ Troubleshooting / Failure Analysis.
+ Simulations in programs such as LTSpice highly preferred.
+ Familiarity with Altium for board layout highly preferred.
+ Excellent communication skills.
Education & Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required. Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
+ 3+ years of electrical engineering in aerospace and circuit design experience required.
+ Knowledge of superior design documentation practices required
