Job Description
Evident is a leader in Digital Pathology systems, combining precision hardware, advanced imaging software, predictive monitoring, and data-driven insights to transform pathology workflows. Evident recently acquired Pramana Inc to create a greater emphasis on Digital Pathology market.
Position Overview
The Director of Applications Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for building and leading the Global Applications engineering function that enables technology delivery, customer success and commercial growth. This role focuses on how solutions are applied, adopted, and scaled in real-world environments.
This leader will own applications enablement, including workflow pilots, demonstrations, customer training and technical content. They will also be responsible for designing and deploying knowledge systems and AI-driven applications tools that allow for scaling the business globally, while improving usability and predictive analytics. The role requires direct, hands-on experience working with customers across the US, Asia, and Europe, bringing cultural fluency and global perspective to applications delivery.
Job Duties
Leadership & Strategy
• Establish applications engineering as a core function distinct from product management—focused on adoption, enablement, and workflow success.
• Define and execute the global applications strategy to support business growth.
• Build, mentor, and scale a team of applications engineers and training specialists.
Customer Enablement & Engagement
• Lead technical enablement for customers, including operator training, workflow integration, and adoption acceleration.
• Drive successful execution of demonstrations, workflow pilots, and technical showcases at exhibitions and customer sites.
• Partner with Sales in RFP responses, bids, and customer evaluations to demonstrate technical differentiation.
• Work directly with customers globally, ensuring global relevance and adapting approaches to regional practices, regulatory contexts, and workflows.
Knowledge Systems & AI
• Build and maintain structured knowledge banks capturing best practices, applications insights, and field learnings.
• Design, deploy, and operationalize AI-based tools for knowledge extraction, intelligent search, technical recommendations, and predictive analytics.
• Collaborate with R&D and Support/Service Engineering to bridge the gap – be the go-to resources for providing technical insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Represent the customer’s workflow voice to Product Management and R&D, influencing usability and product improvements.
• Support Marketing and Sales with technical content, case studies, and applications-driven competitive positioning.
Operational Excellence
• Develop scalable training programs, training videos, technical documentation, and applications resources for internal and external audiences.
• Establish and track KPIs (e.g., customer satisfaction, demo-to-win conversion rates).
• Continuously refine applications processes for global consistency and quality.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical enablement, or related functions, preferably in medical devices, diagnostics or in adjacent fields.
• Strong understanding of imaging systems, hardware/software integration.
• Direct experience working with customers across the US, Asia, and Europe, with demonstrated cultural fluency and adaptability.
• Demonstrable experience in deploying AI-based tools for knowledge management.
• Proven leadership of technical, customer-facing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Track record of success in demos, pilots, RFP support, and technical adoption programs.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (upto 25%).
