    About E&ES:

    Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

    Job Summary:

    The Electrification and Energy System Division is looking for an engineer to support the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power conversion systems. In this role, you will design and develop power conversion systems for Caterpillar advanced power products. The Sr. Engineer within High Power Conversion team will be the experienced electrical design control engineer for stationary power conversion products. These products include power conversion systems (PCS) for machines and stationary energy storage such as MW class BESS Inverter, UPS system and DC fast chargers for Caterpillar battery powered machine. The products aligned with this position support Caterpillar's continued electrification initiatives and expanded offerings.

    What You Will Do:

    + Design and develop next generation MW class BESS Inverter , 500kvA double conversion UPS , fuel cell inverter, DC fast chargers for battery powered Caterpillar machines.

    + Meet cost, quality, and performance targets for targeted applications.

    + Provide system and troubleshooting expertise for product support and field follow teams.

    + Provide input to technical leaders regarding future technology development.

    What You Will Have:

    + **Analytical Thinking:** Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

    + **Effective Communications:** Extensive experience and knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    + **Managing Multiple Priorities:** Extensive experience and knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

    + **Technical Excellence:** Extensive experience and knowledge knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

    + **Experience reading and interpreting a variety of schematic types (ladder logic, creo schematic)**

    + **Experience interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics and use them to create harnesses**

    + **Functional understanding of basic electrical controls (relays, switches, etc)**

    + **Deep understanding of harnessing (routing practices, splicing methods, do's and don'ts). Ability to troubleshoot harness related issues in a laboratory environment**

    + **Experience with product manufacturing (creating prototype and advancing to production)**

    + **Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:** Extensive experience and knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.

    + **Product Design - MFG:** Extensive experience and knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.

    + **Product Testing:** Extensive experience and knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

    Degree Requirement:

    + Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering

    Top Candidates Will Also Have:

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

    + Experience in switchgear design and validation

    + Experience in UPS system design and validation

    + Experience with new product introduction and FMEA based product development

    + Experience working with suppliers and purchasing to introduce a new product to market

    + Caterpillar harnessing experience & experience with Caterpillar IT systems

    Additional Information:

    + This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5 day a week in office availability

    + This position does offer domestic relocation

    + This position does not offer Visa Sponsorship

    + Travel is expected less than 20% of the time

    Summary Pay Range:

    $110,520.00 - $165,840.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
