Job Description

GENERAL** **PURPOSE

Working under general direction or as part of a cross functional team, lead the development and execution of capital projects. Complete projects by organizing and controlling project elements to include oversight of project engineering, project design, and project installation up to and through commissioning of a project. Coordinate and lead project teams which may include internal partners, outside engineering resources, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory personnel. Work with a variety of departments to develop business propositions and executive summaries for capital projects that drive and increase in company value.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Lead project team members through the execution of capital projects with the objective of meeting the project

success criteria

+ Provide guidance with the development of specifications, capital equipment, and the selection of

vendors and contractors. Study product design, customer requirements, and performance standards;

complete technical studies; and prepare cost estimates

+ Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management

+ Coordinate and manage resources, both personnel (e.g., engineers, technicians, contractors) and

funding, to ensure the project fulfills and meets the set objectives defined within the approved scope

+ Determine project schedules by maintaining and studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements

+ Maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving

problems

+ Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, plan, and schedule changes; recommend actions

+ Control project cost by approving expenditures within approved spending limits

+ Provide clear communication and direction to project team members and updates to project stakeholders

+ Support commissioning of completed projects by confirming product performance and conducting tests

+ Provide technical advice and assistance as required to sustain production capacity and capabilities

+ Assist in cross-training efforts to help develop partner’s skills in other functional areas (e.g., using “EPM” Enterprise Project Management tools)

+ Work with cross functional teams to develop business propositions and executive summaries which support company growth and profitability

+ Investigate, evaluate, and implement new or improved technology/methods that may improve capability, capacity, overall profitability, sustainability, and energy conservation

+ Assist the plant team leadership with requests (e.g., upper management meetings, personnel, technical reviews, engineering sessions, advisory help, customer visits)

+ Partner with the leadership team to ensure compliance with food safety and food quality plans and customer requirements. Interpret and communicate customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups

+ Review incidents during which the procedures are not met and determine appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures

+ Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ Undergraduate degree in related curriculum (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

+ 2 to 5 years of related experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment, that includes project leadership/management experience.

+ Certification and/or License – Current valid electrician journeyman license or other location specific electrician license.

+ Strong insight into the organizational structure and stakeholder needs

+ Strong vendor/contractor management skills with ability to lead people and get results through others

+ Strong project management skills

+ Effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both the strategic and functional levels

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems

+ Able to demonstrate a high level of comfort within a changing and complex environment; able to adapt approach as the environment and requirements change

+ Able to think ahead and plan over a multi-year timeframe

+ Able to manage multiple projects and participate in cross-functional environment

+ Able to communicate with various levels to ensure customers’ needs and requirements are met

+ Able to communicate technical information to non-technical individuals

+ Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures

+ Able to develop and evaluate alternatives

+ Able to achieve and maintain credibility and respect within the organization

+ Able to influence and support teams to achieve objectives

+ Must be able to read, write and speak English
