Position Summary:
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sport Sciences (HPESS) seeks a highly qualified individual for the position of Assistant Professor (9-month, tenure track) in Physical Education Teacher Education. This position requires delivering quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring students, conducting scholarly research and creative activities, and providing service to the university, community, and profession.
The anticipated start date is August 2026, and the position is located on the Arkansas State University–Jonesboro campus. The university is committed to providing resources that support faculty teaching, scholarship, and professional development, including funding for research and travel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position will deliver quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level (load of up to 12 credit hours), mentor students, engage in scholarship activities related to the discipline, and contribute service to the university, community, and profession. Actively participate in curriculum development and program assessment to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and institutional goals. Participate in faculty meetings and other college-related activities as needed.

Prior work experience in the field is desirable.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in physical education or a closely related field is required. An earned doctorate, equivalent terminal degree, or ABD appropriate to the discipline is preferred.
College/university teaching experience in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) is preferred.
