    This **one-year temporary** unclassified position exists to provide project management related to the Department of Commerce's (Commerce's) building renovation project. The primary responsibility of the project manager is to be the main point of contact and represent Commerce's interests for the duration of the project, from design through final closeout. This work will include the following: (1) manage the coordination of renovation work so business continues uninterrupted, and renovation distractions are minimized; and (2) work with Commerce's Communications staff to develop and implement a communication plan so all affected staff are informed in a timely manner of anticipated milestones, next steps, and expectations. The project manager will oversee day-to-day operations of the renovation project to include working directly with internal and external clientele.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Serve as the main point of contact and project manager of Commerce's building renovation project. Oversee day-to-day operations of the project to ensure business continues uninterrupted and renovation distractions are minimized.

    + Create and integrate a project schedule that includes milestones for design, construction, staging, and moving.

    + Organize and serve on work groups related to design, budget, construction, technology, furniture and other required project areas.

    + Schedule meetings and record minutes for renovation-related work groups.

    + Perform other tasks as requested by the Administration Division Manager or Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three (3) years of professional level project management experience.

     

    A bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Management, or related field is equivalent to one (1) year of experience.

     

    An Advanced degree in Business, Business Administration, Management, or related field is equivalent to eighteen (18) months of experience.

    • Knowledge of project management principles and best practices.

    • Experience working with multiple stakeholders on a complex project to achieve common goals.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate project schedules and details to leadership and staff.

    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple lines of work while meeting expectations and deadlines.

    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience working as a project manager for building renovation projects.

    + Certification(s) in Project Management.
